Roma preview: Impressive Giallorossi
After leaving Atalanta last summer, Gian Pieri Gasperini overcame criticism from Roma director Claudio Ranieri to eventually lead them to an impressive third place finish and UEFA Champions League qualification in Serie A.
Gasperini has also overseen an extremely strong start to this season with the Romans hammering Fiorentina by four goals to nil in their opener before winning by the same scoreline down in Apulia against Lecce last weekend.

Atalanta endured a tough first post-Gasperini season last year and that has led to the appointment of Maurizio Sarri – with his reign beginning shakily in a goalless draw against Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League play-off.
However, the Bergamasci eventually saw the Israelis off in the second-leg with that being sandwiched between victories against Sassuolo and Bologna at the New Balance Arena to kick off their Serie A season.

An intervention from Gian Piero Gasperini ensured that Manu Kone would not be sold to Chelsea with the France international staying put in Rome instead.

While results have been strong for Sarri, Atalanta have not been electric. The fairly dull and overly complex possession-based style that he implements can take its time to be thrilling, if it ever is. That will ensure they are capable of controlling passages of this game but the more intense and energetic Romans, who are in excellent form, will again fancy themselves to make it three wins from three in Italy’s capital city this weekend.
