Rennes preview: Entertaining Rennes

Throughout the 2025-26 Ligue 1 campaign, Rennes have often flattered to deceive. They are far too inconsistent for their liking, but their best has been pretty good and will give them hope.

The hosts head into this one on the back of returning from the Ligue 1 mid-season winter break in excellent style with a defeat of a strong Lille team before easing past Chantilly in the Coupe de France last weekend.

Le Havre preview: Tricky Le Havre

One would be forgiven for simply expecting Le Havre to finally succumb to the drop zone in the French top-flight this season but, as has been the case in the last couple of seasons, they often find a way to ensure an effectiveness that steers them to safety.

The visitors’ most recent outing saw them defeat Angers by two goals to one in a crucial victory at Stade Oceane with Noam Obougou scoring the winner in that clash.

Rennes team news: Jacquet out

It has been reported that Jeremy Jacquet is set to sign for Chelsea but the defender is unavailable for this weekend for Rennes anyway as he is missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Samba; Rongier, Rouault, Brassier; Frankowski, Camara, Kamara, Merlin, Al Tamari; Meite, Embolo

Unavailable: Ait Boudlal (International duty), Jacquet (Suspended)

Questionable: Seidu (Injured), Cisse (Injured)

Le Havre team news: Diaw out

Le Havre’s first-choice goalkeeper Mory Diaw remains unavailable for the visitors this weekend as he is with Senegal at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Argney; Nego, Seko, Lloris, Zouaoui; Ndiaye, Mambimbi, Ebonog, Kechta; Soumare, Quetant

Unavailable: Diaw (International duty)

Questionable: Youte (Injured), Zagadou (Injured), Toure (Injured), Khadra (Injured)

Rennes vs Le Havre prediction

Rennes are an entertaining team that play front foot and proactive football. Their inconsistency though lies in the fact that they can often be a little loose at the back. Le Havre carve out goal scoring opportunities in a variety of ways and so Rennes remain favourites but Le Harve will remain confident of bloodying their nose.

Rennes vs Le Havre tip: Rennes to win & both teams to score
