Italian champions Napoli continue their 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign with the visit to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven this midweek.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – TNT Sports / US – Not televised

How to watch online: UK – discovery+ / US – Paramount+

PSV preview: Fun to watch

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Peter Bosz has often been criticised for being too attacking but PSV Eindhoven have managed to be effective as well as entertaining, having pinched the Dutch Eredivisie title, defending their league triumph, on the final day of last season. They are one of the better teams to watch.

PSV began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a shock 3-1 loss at home to Belgian champions Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at the Philips Stadion. After that, though, PSV did manage more of a respectable 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen a few weeks ago. They  are unbeaten in five matches since that defeat to Union SG.

Napoli preview: Needing to find form

Antonio Conte has a remarkably impressive managerial record. The Neapolitans have won two of the last three Serie A titles and the second of those came last season. What Conte has struggled to do is be able to fight on multiple fronts with his record in Europe often quite poor, and they will hope any dip in form from the league doesn't contribute to a further dip on the continent.

That potential loss of form in Serie A was a reality at the weekend as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Stadio Grande Torino in Piedmont, being knocked off top spot. Conte appears content behind the scenes and was backed with a strong squad over the summer but there will be a concern that they could now drift if their performance level continues to be reasonably underwhelming.

PSV team news: No Van Bommel

Exciting young winger Ryan van Bommel, the son of Mark, has been very good in this competition but is unavailable due to injury. He is sidelined alongside former Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kovar; Dest, Schouten, Gasiorowski, Salah-Eddine; Junior, Veerman; Man, Saibari, Perisic; Til

Unavailable: Sildilla (Injured), Plea (Injured), Waayers (Injured), Van Bommel (Injured)

Questionable:

Napoli team news: Hojlund injury

Rasmus Hojlund has been excellent since joining Napoli but he is now sidelined due to a thigh injury. The man he has replaced up-front, Romelu Lukaku, is also missing due to his own thigh issue.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Buongiorno, Juan, Olivera; Gilmour; Politano, Anguissa, De Bruyne, Spinazzola; Lucca

Unavailable: Contini (Injured), Rrahmanii (Injured), Lobotka (Injured), McTominay (Injured), Hojlund (Injured), Lukaku (Injured)

Questionable:

PSV vs Napoli prediction

Napoli managed to defeat Sporting CP by two goals to one a few weeks ago, albeit at home, with Vanja Milinkovic-Savic pulling off a brilliant and dramatic late save. The Partenopei will believe they, again, can control and slightly override a more open level of opposition, but PSV should create openings, especially with their home advantage, and it should be quite a fun watch for the neutral.

PSV vs Napoli Tip: Napoli to win & both teams to score
