Preston vs Wrexham prediction

Paul Heckingbottom’s Preston North End collapsed towards needing to avoid relegation on the final day of last season, but the Lancastrians have been much-improved this time around. They managed to draw 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers on opening day before back-to-back home wins against just-relegated Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

Wrexham have spent heavily this summer, but Phil Parkinson’s side have endured a tricky start. They led late on on the opening day against Southampton, but lost 2-1. They fought back from 3-1 down against Hull City to win on penalties in the cup. They were then outdone in a 3-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion and recently threw away a two-goal lead against Sheffield Wednesday to share a 2-2 draw at home.

Phil Parkinson will know cup football is a good way of getting players into form, but it isn’t the visitors’ priority, and Preston will be favoured to come through at home.

Preston vs Wrexham tip: Double chance – Preston to win or draw
