Pisa preview: Intriguing Pisa

Following their promotion to Serie A, former Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino has been appointed in charge of the Black and Blues. Pisa have made some intriguing additions and they will simply be seeking to avoid the bottom three and the danger zone.

After winning their Coppa Italia first round tie against Cesena on penalties, Pisa then managed to earn themselves a 1-1 draw against Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium, with an Isak Hien own goal being cancelled out by Italy international Gianluca Scamacca.

Roma preview: Gasp’s Romans

The reason for a potential dip in Atalanta this season is because their previously long-term boss Gian Piero Gasperini has since departed for the capital city, joining Roma and seeking to take them back to the UEFA Champions League this season.

On the opening day of the campaign, the Giallorossi managed to defeat Bologna by a goal to nil at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend. In a close contest, new signing Wesley, from Flamengo, scored the only goal of the game in the second-half.

Pisa team news: A few issues

Pisa have a few issues to deal with for this one as both Tomas Esteves and Isak Vural are sidelined, whilst Mateus Lusuardi and Alexander Lind remain doubts for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Semper; Denoon, Caracciolo, Canestrelli; Toure, Marin, Aebischer, Angori; Moreo, Tramoni; Meister

Unavailable: Esteves (Injured), Vural (Injured)

Questionable: Lusuardi (Injured), Lind (Injured)

Roma team news: Bailey out

New signing Leon Bailey, who has joined on loan from Aston Villa, is sidelined due to a thigh injury, whilst Lorenzo Pellegrini is also missing due to a thigh injury at the moment.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mario Hermoso, Mancini, Ndicka; Wesley, Cristante, Kone, Angelino; Matias Soule, El Shaarawy; Ferguson

Unavailable: Pellegrini (Injured), Bove (Illness), Bailey (Injured)

Questionable:

Pisa vs Roma prediction

Pisa are expected to be solid throughout this campaign and Alberto Gilardino is a coach that has shown he knows how to make his teams difficult to beat and score against. Roma will lack a bit of the automatic fluency and aggression of a typical Gasperini side in the early stages of the season, but signs last week were positive and they should be favoured to get themselves over the line for a victory in this one.

Pisa vs Roma tip: Roma to win & under 3.5 goals
