The Spaniard was forced to retire against Mayar Sherif in the final of the Iasi Open due to illness, but she was composed throughout in round one as she saved 12 out of 13 break point opportunities, winning 7-5 6-4. Badosa has won 10 out of her last 11 matches.
She will face third seed Panna Udvardy for a place in the last eight. The Hungarian was untroubled in her opening match, defeating qualifier Elena Pridankina in straight sets. She won 6-4 6-2. Udvardy trails Badosa 2-0 in the head-to-head and she will be out for revenge after losing to the former world number two in Iasi last week.
Badosa has the edge here, and she is back inside the top 100 of the live rankings after her recent string of displays. If she is healthy, Udvardy will likely find it tough once more.
