Parma preview: Change at Parma

Cristian Chivu managed to steer Parma clear of safety last season and he replaced Simone Inzaghi at Internazionale over the summer ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and Chivu has been replaced by Carlos Cuesta in his first managerial role.

Carlos Cuesta, who has previously been the assistant coach to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, began their season with a cup win against Pescara before they then suffered a 2-0 loss to Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on the opening day last weekend.

Atalanta preview: Change for Atalanta

Gian Piero Gasperini has led Atalanta to towards the upper echelons of European football, but he has departed the Bergamasci over the summer for Roma, with former Southampton and Torino boss Ivan Juric having replaced him at the Gewiss Stadium.

They are expected to struggle a lot more this season, and they started their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to newly-promoted Pisa last weekend, avoiding a defeat with a Gianluca Scamacca equaliser in the second-half.

Parma team news: A few issues

New signing Matija Frigan is sidelined for Parma this weekend, alongside both Gabriel Charpentier and Jacob Ondrejka, whilst midfielder Hernani is also a doubt for this one.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Suzuki; Del Prato, Circati, Valenti; Lovik, Adrian Bernabe, Keita, Valeri; Almqvist, Ordonez; Mateo Pellegrino

Unavailable: Frigan (Injured), Charpentier (Injured), Ondrejka (Injured)

Questionable: Hernani (Injured)

Atalanta team news: A few injuries

Atalanta are dealing with a few injuries for this one as defensive duo Sead Kolasinac and Mitchel Bakker are sidelined alongside the potentially departing Ademola Lookman.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Scalvini, Hien, Djimsiti; Bellanova, De Roon, Pasalic, Zalewski; De Ketelaere, Maldini; Scamacca

Unavailable: Kolasinac (Injured), Bakker (Injured), Lookman (Injured)

Questionable:

Parma vs Atalanta prediction

Parma head into this one on the back of an indifferent start to the season, albeit they were up against a seemingly strong, or at least stubborn, Juventus side in Turin. Carlos Cuesta’s side will be confident that they continue to use their home advantage, as they did last season, against an Atalanta side that have been forced to evolve, but run the risk of stagnating and going backwards.

Parma vs Atalanta tip: Double chance – Parma to win or draw
