Bayern Munich team news: Nothing fresh

Alphonso Davies couldn’t go to either this tournament or with Canada to the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer due to injury, but aside from the full-back, there are no fresh injury concerns for Bayern Munich to concern themselves with.

Key stats

  • Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern, the reigning champions respectively of France and Germany, meet for the 15th time but the first outside the UEFA Champions League, of which Paris Saint-Germain are the holders despite Luis Enrique’s side losing 1-0 to Vincent Kompany’s Bayern in Munich on Matchday 5 of their triumphant 2024/25 campaign. Defender Kim Min-Jae’s 38th-minute strike won that contest, with Ousmane Dembélé sent off for the visitors just before the hour.
  • Bayern have the overall lead in the head-to-head record with eight wins to six. The Germans have won the last four encounters without conceding a goal. This includes the 2020 UEFA Champions League final (1-0 in Lisbon).
  • PSG have won eight of their last nine matches across all competitions (W8 D0 L1).
  • PSG have kept five clean sheets in their last six competitive games.
  • PSG have conceded just once in four outings at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.
  • Paris Saint-Germain have netted three or more times in six of their last eight games in all competitions.
  • Seven of PSG’s ten goals at the FIFA Club World Cup™ have been scored in the first half.
  • Bayern have lost only one of their last 11 fixtures in all competitions (W7 D3 L1).

  • Paris defender Lucas Hernández was a Bayern player from 2019-23, winning ten trophies with the club including four successive Bundesliga titles and the 2020 edition of the competition now known as the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. Another three PSG players have played for German clubs – Ousmane Dembélé (Borussia Dortmund 2016/17), Achraf Hakimi (Dortmund 2018-20 loan) and Willian Pacho (Eintracht Frankfurt 2023/24).
  • Bayern’s Kingsley Coman, who scored the winning goal in the 2020 UEFA Champions League final, is Paris-born and a product of the PSG youth system – though he made only four senior appearances for the club. Two other Bayern players have played senior football for French clubs – Sacha Boey (Rennes 2019-21, Dijon 2020/21 loan) and Raphaël Guerreiro (Caen 2012-13, Lorient 2013-16)
  • Bayern’s Raphaël Guerreiro is a former Dortmund team-mate of both Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi.
  • PSG’s Nuno Mendes and Bayern’s João Palhinha played together for Sporting CP in 2020/21.

  • PSG’s Lee Kang-in and Bayern’s Kim Min-jae were team-mates in Korea Republic’s squad at the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
  • PSG coach Luis Enrique oversaw the Barcelona side that beat Bayern 5-3 on aggregate (3-0 home, 2-3 away) in the semi-finals of the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League. Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller were in the Bayern side, the latter scoring in the second leg.
  • Luis Enrique was also in charge of the Spain side that drew 1-1 with Germany in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Bayern’s Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and substitute Leroy Sané were in the Germany side.
  • Harry Kane became England’s all-time record scorer, scoring his 54th goal, when he converted a penalty past Gianluigi Donnarumma in a UEFA EURO 2004 qualifier in Naples in March 2023 to help England defeat Italy 2-1. He scored twice more past the PSG goalkeeper in a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture at Wembley Stadium in October that year.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich prediction

Luis Enrique has produced and developed a magnificent Paris Saint-Germain side, having won four trophies last season, including a first ever UEFA Champions League. They raced into a 4-0 lead by half-time and settled for that as the end match result in midweek as the Parisiens hammered Inter Miami in the Round of 16.

They now face a Bayern Munich side that regained the German title last season, following the appointment of Vincent Kompany. However, the Bavarians have remained susceptible at the back, and that was on show once again in an entertaining 4-2 victory over Flamengo in the Round of 16 the other day.

Both sides are often involved in entertaining clashes because of the way they play, and a high-scoring PSG victory is to be expected for this quarter-final.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich tip: Paris Saint-Germain to win & over 2.5 goals
