Having recently turned 21, the promising Nishesh Basavareddy is still learning his craft on tour but has been gaining some valuable experience this year, making the second round of a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open, and winning a Challenger event on clay for the first time just last month.
The American, who came through qualifying to make the main draw in Geneva, will be looking for a strong showing ahead of next week's French Open, where he has been granted a wildcard entry.
The youngster will take on the far more established Jaume Munar, who is very much at home on the red dirt.
The eighth-seeded Spaniard hasn't played his best stuff recently though, winning just one game across his appearances in Barcelona, Madrid and Rome.
The 29-year-old tuned up for this one with a Challenger Tour event in Valencia, where he reached the semi-finals, and you have to think he'll have too much for his less experienced opponent.
