Nigeria preview: Impressive Nigerians

Under the management of former Mali boss Eric Chelle, Nigeria have an extremely impressive squad, albeit they have struggled for any sort of form for a long time now, continuing in their recent FIFA World Cup qualifying elimination.

The Nigerians began their CAF Africa Cup of Nations campaign with an impressive 2-1 defeat of Tanzania at the Fez Stadium in Fes, courtesy of goals in either half from centre-back Semi Ajayi and versatile forward Ademola Lookman.

Tunisia preview: Solid and steady Tunisians

Tunisia started their AFCON group stage campaign with an impressive performance at Stade Prince Abdellah in Rabat, courtesy of a goal from Ellyes Skhiri as well as a brace from Elias Achouri.

They have been much-improved in the last couple of years and qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with ease, sharing a 1-1 draw with Brazil in their most recent match, too, in a friendly back in the November international break.

Nigeria team news: No need to change

There doesn’t really need to be any changes for Nigeria here. Victor Osimhen wasn’t at his best in their opener but remains a guaranteed starter ahead of Paul Onuachu.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Nwabali; Osayi-Samuel, Ajayi, Bassey, Sanusi; Ndidi, Iwobi; Chukwueze, Lookman, Adams; Osimhen

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Tunisia team news: Going strong

Tunisia have a deeper and much more rounded squad than they have had in the past and so can rotate in this tournament, but they will want to get the group won before any of that. Hazem Mastouri and Elias Saad are slight injury doubts.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Dahmen; Valery, Bronn, Talbi, Abdi; Sassi, Skhiri, Mejbri; Achouri, Chaouat, Gharbi

Unavailable:

Questionable: Saad (Injured), Mastouri (Injured)

Nigeria vs Tunisia prediction

These are two of the stronger sides in African international football and both will be expected to go deep into this competition over the next few weeks. Nigeria’s result was not convincing but their performance has been much-improved. They face a Tunisia side that will be very awkward and difficult to play against and a tense, low-scoring affair appears likely for this one in Morocco.

Nigeria vs Tunisia tip: Under 2.5 goals
