Newport County come into this one on the back of a 1-0 loss at home to Salford City in midweek in Wales. Newport had began with a 1-1 draw at home to Notts County and then backed that up with a surprise 2-1 win away at just-relegated Crawley Town, but they have now suffered three successive defeats across all competitions.
Milton Keynes Dons have been ambitious with an impressive summer transfer window, and the appointment of Paul Warne. They began with a goalless draw against Oldham Athletic but have since turned themselves into a machine-like side with a 5-0 victory last weekend over Cheltenham Town at Stadium: MK the standout performance.
Newport have begun to already regress to what was initially expected of them, and MK Dons will be expected to ease themselves to a comfortable victory this weekend.
