Sassuolo preview: Struggling Sassuolo

Having lost Fabio Grosso to Fiorentina over the summer, Sassuolo started steadily under the management of former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani but I Neroverdi have now collected just one point from their last four matches in Serie A.

Sassuolo most recently succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Como at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia at the weekend due to a second half brace scored by Greece international attacker Tasos Douvikas.

Lazio preview: In-form Lazio

Off the pitch, there remains major unrest among the fanbase aimed at the club’s hierarchy but they remain supportive, albeit not in the stadium, of a Lazio side that have surprisingly shone since the appointment of former Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso.

The Laziale maintained their strong start to the season with a 2-1 defeat of Parma in a game that was more comfortable than the result suggests with Parma scoring a consolation deep into second half stoppage-time.

Sassuolo team news: A few injuries

Sassuolo continue to have a few injury absentees for this weekend such as Indonesia international defender Jay Idzes and Canada international midfielder Ismael Kone.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Van Der Brempt, Caleta-Car, Cande, Rafa Obrador; Adzic, Matic, Bakola; Berardi, Bowie, Dominguez

Unavailable: Idzes (Injured), Leysen (Injured), Yeferson Paz (Injured), Kone (Injured), Boloca (Injured)

Questionable:

Lazio team news: Pinamonti a doubt

Summer signing Andrea Pinamonti missed the game with Parma the other day due to illness and so he remains a doubt with Albert Gudmundsson remaining sidelined alongside the likes of Nicolo Rovella and Adam Marusic.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Mandas; Floriani Mussolini, Sutalo, Provstgaard, Tavares; Frattesi, Belahyane, Taylor; Isaksen, Noslin, Zaccagni

Unavailable: Furlanetto (Injured), Marusic (Injured), Rovella (Injured), Gudmundsson (Injured)

Questionable: Pinamonti (Illness)

Sassuolo vs Lazio prediction

Lazio now begin this midweek round of fixtures sitting second in the table with seven victories and a draw in their eight matches thus far, only behind defending champions Internazionale at the top-of-the-table. Sassuolo have been pushed towards the bottom three and the relegation places in recent weeks and siding with Lazio to maintain their unbeaten start is the way to go for this one.

Sassuolo vs Lazio tip: Double chance – Lazio to win or draw
