Newcastle preview: Flying Magpies

Eddie Howe has done a magnificent job in charge of Newcastle United and, as the Magpies prepare for a return to the UEFA Champions League, they will be lining up a home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers where they can now kick on.

A dramatic 3-2 defeat at home to Liverpool, in which they came back from 2-0 down to go level and then conceded a 100th minute, has been sandwiched between goalless draws on the road against Aston Villa and Leeds United so far this season.

Wolves preview: Wolves need something

Vitor Pereira did an excellent job in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, but this summer has seen the departures of Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha, as well as Nelson Semedo, and it has been a tough start to the campaign for Wolves.

The midlanders began their campaign with a 4-0 annihilation at the hands of Manchester City at Molineux before a 1-0 loss to AFC Bournemouth a week later, followed by a 3-2 defeat at home to an impressive Everton side.

Wolves team news

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Sa; S. Bueno, Agbadou, T. Gomes; Hoever, J. Gomes, Andre, H. Bueno; Munetsi, Hwang, Arias

Unavailable: Chiwone (Injured), Strand Larsen (Injured)

Questionable: H. Bueno (Injured), Hoever (Injured)

Newcastle vs Wolves prediction

Vitor Pereira is known for being a bit of a character but his negative and nasty side didn’t quite come out last season, with Wolves easing away from the bottom three. That may not be the case this time around. They now face a Newcastle side that haven’t necessarily played poorly, despite the off-field transfer speculation, and this is now a good chance to put things right and pile the misery on to Wolves.

Newcastle vs Wolves tip: Newcastle to win -1 handicap
