Newcastle vs Tottenham prediction

Newcastle clearly don’t plan to let their League Cup trophy go without a fight as they comfortably overcame a potential lower league banana skin against high-flying League One side Bradford City last time out. Tottenham will obviously provide a much tougher challenge and are coming off the back of a fantastic 0-3 win away at Everton in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s side though, are a notoriously good team at home and have won their last three games in all competitions at St. James’ Park, beating Nottingham Forest, Benfica and Fulham. Tottenham will provide the Magpies with little room for error, although Newcastle are well equipped to counter any aerial bombardment from set pieces and have enough pace within their attack to cause Spurs big problems. With home advantage in their favour, the smart move would be to back Howe’s men to go through, although it would be no surprise if penalties were required.

Newcastle vs Tottenham tip: Newcastle to qualify
