Nadia Podoroska will be aiming for a first tour-level win of the season when she competes in Hamburg this week. Her last event was in Iasi, but she lost her opening match to Petra Marcinko. She was also defeated by Marta Kostyuk in round one of Wimbledon. Podoroska, whose highest ranking was 36 in July 2021, has won 22 of her 27 matches since beginning her season at the end of March. Furthermore, she has won two lower-level titles in 2026.
Her first-round opponent is Julia Stusek. The young German is just 18 years old, and she will be making her main draw debut on the WTA Tour. She did win a title in Klosters earlier in the season, while she also attempted to qualify for the Stuttgart Open back in April.
Podoroska has been able to pick up results this season, and her experience could prove key against Stusek.
