Monaco preview: New man in charge

Monaco are four games without a win in all competitions heading into fixture, with new manager Sebastien Pocognoli's first game in charge resulting in a 1-1 draw away to Angers in Ligue 1 on Saturday, with the hosts scoring the equaliser in the 85th minute.

Under former manager Adi Hutter, Monaco picked up just one point from their first two league phase games in the UEFA Champions League, although an injury-time Eric Dier penalty did earn them a 2-2 draw at home to Man City last time out.

Tottenham preview: Teething problems for Frank

Despite some promising moments this season, Tottenham are clearly still a work in progress under Thomas Frank with the North London outfit most recently losing 1-2 at home to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Spurs sit on four points after two Champions League outings, beating Villarreal 1-0 at home on Matchday 1 before fighting back from two goals down to draw with Bodo/Glimt on Matchday 2.

Monaco team news: No reunion for Dier

Former Spurs asset Dier will not be facing his old team on Wednesday with a hamstring issue preventing his availability, and he joins a host of other players in the Monaco treatment room.

Former Arsenal frontman Folarin Balogun is pushing for a start after scoring on Saturday, but Mika Biereth could well keep his starting place up front.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Kohn; Caio Henrique, Kehrer, Salisu; Ouattara, Golovin, Teze, Diatta; Akliouche; Fati, Biereth

Unavailable: Hradecky (Injured), Vanderson (Injured), Camara (Injured), Dier (Injured), Pogba (Fitness), Zakaria (Injured)

Questionable: Mawissa (Fitness)

Tottenham team news: Race against time for Romero

Kevin Danso may be required in defence once again as Cristian Romero pulled up in the warm-up against Aston Villa on the weekend, while Destiny Udogie is carrying a knock from international duty and could also miss out.

Dominic Solanke is close to a return from injury and may well find himself in the travelling squad.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Van de Ven, Danso, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha; Johnson, Simons, Kudus; Richarlison

Unavailable: Dragusin (Injured), Takai (Injured), Bissouma (Injured), Maddison (Injured), Kulusevski (Injured), Tel (Injured)

Questionable: Romero (Injured), Udogie (Injured), Davies (Injured), Solanke (Injured)

Monaco vs Tottenham prediction

Both of these sides are adapting to new managers, but for Monaco the change in the hot seat was much more recent with Pocognoli only having one game in charge at the Ligue 1 outfit ahead of this fixture. Spurs, meanwhile, have lacked some fluency in the early stages of Frank's tenure, but four points from their opening two Champions League fixtures is a decent start.

It could be a slow start to this one with both teams feeling each other out, and with both attacks not firing on all cylinders right now, a fairly low-scoring game could be on the cards.

Monaco vs Tottenham Tip: Under 2.5 goals
