KEVIN HOLLAND VS JACK DELLA MADDALENA LOWDOWN

Kevin Holland (25-9(1)) has made his 19 UFC appearances in just five years. No one in the UFC has been as active and he has amassed a UFC record of 12-6(1). He fought four times last year finishing Alex Oliveira (TKO) and Tim Means (submission). However, he went on to get mauled and submitted by Khamzat Chimaev and then TKO’d by Stephen Thompson. He has responded in true Holland fashion with two fights this year knocking out Santiago Ponzinibbio and submitting Michael Chiesa.

Jack Della Maddalena (15-2) also makes his third appearance of the year. He made his first three UFC bouts last year stamping his name on the welterweight map with three ruthless first-round knockouts over Pete Rodriguez, Ramazan Emeev and Danny Roberts. He then met Randy Brown (2023) in Perth and displayed another string to his bow by submitting him in the first round. Five months later he welcomed Bassil Hafez to the octagon who gave him his toughest test taking him to the wire in a split decision.

KEVIN HOLLAND VS JACK DELLA MADDALENA PREDICTION

This is an epic co-main event and is a litmus test for Maddalena to see if he can make it to the top of the division. They are both incredible strikers with contrasting styles. Holland also has excellent jiu-jitsu and although his takedown defence is improving, his wrestling has always been a weakness.

That said, we expect this to play out on the feet. If Holland is crazy enough to decide to stand with Thompson, then he will be crazy enough to stand with Maddalena.

The Aussie is one of the most technically sound boxers in the division. He is compact with excellent fundamentals whereas Holland is more loose using his long arms to whip shots from all angles.

He will boost his usual reach advantage and will have eight inches of reach and four in height over the Aussie. He will need to set up traps to pierce the guard, but his unorthodox style will be effective.

Expect Maddalena to break Holland down with his jab and and begin to open up and countering as the fight goes on. We feel his volume will be the difference maintaining his technique and output for three rounds.

Holland will be most threatening early in the fight and there is always value in him as the underdog. However, as this is likely to stay on the feet and Maddalena is a better striker, we are backing him to get the job done with Holland’s durability taking this to the bell. This should be a war.

Prediction: Maddalena via Decision

Value bet: Holland to win
