Adrian Mannarino was unable to qualify for the China Open after a loss to Pablo Carreno Busta in the final stage. He goes up against Nikoloz Basilashvili in Shanghai. The Georgian found form in Chengdu with a fabulous run from qualifying to the semi-finals. He did not drop a set across his five matches and looked on course for the final as he took the first set against Alejandro Davidovch Fokina, but he would go on to lose in three. Basilashvili then carried on the momentum with two qualifying wins in Shanghai.

Basilashvili’s current form cannot be ignored, but Mannarino should be able to make this competitive.
