Mirra Andreeva vs Anastasia Potapova prediction

Mirra Andreeva progressed to the round-of-16 at the US Open for the first time in her career after a straight sets win over Nikola Bartunkova. The fifth seed controlled the opening set to take the lead, but the Czech provided far more resistance in the second. Andreeva twice exchanged breaks with her opponent, but she raced into a 4-0 lead in the tiebreak and went on to win 6-2 7-6 (5). She has now reached the fourth-round at all four Grand Slams and is yet to drop a set in New York. The reigning Roland Garros champion had previously demolished Eva Lys 6-0 6-2 in round two.

Her next opponent is Anastasia Potapova, after she beat 2025 finalist Amanda Anisimova. Potapova dominated the opening set and held her nerve towards the end of the match to win 6-2 7-5 after one hour and 39 minutes. 

Andreeva leads the head-to-head 3-1 and has won their last two matches, including a 6-1 6-3 victory at this event last year. She also recovered from a set down to beat Potapova in the final of the Linz Open earlier this season. 

Though the Russian is the favourite, Potapova’s victory over Anisimova demonstrated the level she is currently producing, while their Linz meeting showed she is capable of putting Andreeva under sustained pressure.
