Maya Joint vs Tereza Valentova prediction
Maya Joint overcame a tough test in round one as she defeated Laura Samson in three sets. Joint recovered from a dip in her level to dominate the decider, winning 6-3 3-6 6-2. The Australian has struggled for results this season, especially in comparison to 2025, but she did defeat Serena Williams on her way to the third-round of Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
She will now face another Czech, as she goes up against Tereza Valentova for a place in the last eight. Valentova breezed through her opening match as she defeated lucky loser Priscilla Hon in straight sets. She dropped just four games in total, winning 6-2 6-2. Valentova progressed to the semi-finals of this tournament last year.
Joint showed resilience in her opening match but defeating Valentova on Czech hard courts is likely to be a tougher task. The Czech also leads the head-to-head 1-0, having beaten Joint comfortably in the first-round of this year’s Australian Open.
