Marko Topo is set to make his second main draw appearance on the ATP Tour this season after qualifying for the Croatia Open. The 22-year-old also competed at the BMW Open, losing in the first-round. He is ranked 374 in the world, but he will be hoping to spring an upset in this opening match. His record on clay this season is poor, with 12 defeats from 18 matches.

He faces Camilo Ugo Carabelli in Umag. The Argentine suffered an injury in his first-round match against Daniel Merida at Wimbledon and was forced to retire in the fourth set. He defended his Challenger title in Rosario earlier this year, while his best result on the ATP Tour was a semi-final appearance at the Grand Prix Hassan II.
