Marie Bouzkova progressed through to the third-round of Roland Garros after straight set wins over Lucia Bronzetti and Francesca Jones, before a defeat to Mirra Andreeva, with the Russian going on to win the event. Bouzkova has not been too consistent this season, but she has managed to get more wins on the board in recent weeks, having also reached the quarter-finals in Strasbourg last month.
Her first-round opponent at Queen’s Club is Polina Kudermetova. She qualified for this tournament after hard-fought victories over Priscilla Hon and Alina Charaeva. Kudermetova was unable to do the same at Roland Garros as she was beaten by Xiyu Wang in the final stage of qualifying. She has reached two finals on the ITF circuit this season, but has just one victory on the WTA Tour.
