Failure to defeat a promoted club at Old Trafford will bring Ruben Amorim's position as Man Utd boss under even greater scrutiny, as the Red Devils host Sunderland on Saturday.

Man Utd vs Sunderland prediction

After the brief high of their victory over Chelsea a couple of weeks ago, Man Utd were back in the doldrums with 1-3 defeat at Brentford last weekend - their third loss across six Premier League games in 2025-26.

Benjamin Sesko's first goal for his new club was a minor plus point for the Red Devils, who missed a penalty through Bruno Fernandes - the second time this season that their captain has misfired from the spot.

In complete contrast, Sunderland are flying high right now having enjoyed an excellent return to the top flight so far, their only defeat to date somewhat surprisingly coming against fellow promoted side Burnley.

Utd boss Ruben Amorim is a man feeling the heat right now and this will not be an easy game. However, with the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo providing undeniable attacking threat, you feel they surely have to click sooner or later. A pressure-relieving home win is predicted, but it is unlikely to be pretty.
