Key Stats

  • Malawi are aiming to win successive World Cup qualifying matches for the first since 2008.
  • None of Liberia’s last 23 World Cup qualifying matches finished without a goal being scored.

Malawi vs Liberia Prediction

In Group H, the Tunisians sit at the top of the group with 19 points collected from their opening seven matches, sitting well clear of Namibia and on the verge of ensuring automatic qualification for next summer’s tournament.

In terms of the race for the runner up spot and a playoff berth, Namibia are on 12 points. Liberia and Equatorial Guinea are on ten points, with Malawi on nine and still in the fight, with Sao Tome e Principe having suffered seven defeats from seven.

Malawi come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of the aforementioned Namibia the other day, whilst Liberia were hammered by the Tunisians by three goals to nil.

This is an intriguing contest in the hunt for qualification, and Malawi would have to be viewed as slight favourites with home advantage, in a likely low-scoring encounter.

Malawi vs Liberia Tip: Double chance - Malawi to win & under 3.5 goals
