Lyon preview: Win in midweek
Paulo Fonseca and his Olympique Lyonnais side come into this one on the back of an entertaining 3-2 defeat of Crystal Palace in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League with goals scored by Corentin Tolisso, Ernest Nuamah and Pavel Sulc.
Lyon, who were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the play-off round by Fenerbahce in August, had been unbeaten in Ligue 1 until their hard-fought 2-1 loss to Lens at Stade Bollaert-Delelis last weekend.
Nice preview: Finding results
Nice escaped relegation in the end of season promotion/relegation play-off as they defeated Saint-Etienne last season but the expectation was that the southerners will remain way below par and in another relegation battle this time around.
That said, though, Nice have managed to win games either side of the international break, having backed up a win against Lille by defeating Strasbourg by two goals to one at the Allianz Riviera last week.

Lyon vs Nice prediction
Nice have shown some real resilience in their last couple of games, perhaps emblematic of the grit and pragmatism of former Southampton and Leicester City boss Claude Puel. Lyon will find it tough to go from game-to-game in this busy autumn schedule for the hosts and so any sort of fluency against the rigidity of Nice is unlikely but Lyon do have to remain firm favourites for this one.
