Lyon preview: Strong Lyon

Paulo Fonseca, who replaced the harshly sacked Pierre Sage in January, remains suspended from the dugout until next month, but his Olympique Lyonnais side have started this season in impressive fashion with back-to-back victories.

Having edged past Lens by a goal to nil at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on the opening day of the campaign, Lyon then managed to dispatch of Metz by three goals to nil, courtesy of goals from Malick Fofana, Corentin Tolisso and Georges Mikautadze.

Marseille preview: Hostile Marseille

Olympique de Marseille, coached by former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi, have often been distracted by off-field shenanigans, and Marseille have already endured an issue with an argument between Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe.

The latter has since been sold due to their fight in the aftermath of their 1-0 loss to Stade Rennais, but Marseille have now come into this one on the back of an entertaining and thrilling 5-2 defeat of Paris at Stade Velodrome on the south coast of France.

Lyon team news: Couple of injuries

Ahead of the visit of Marseille, Lyon have no fresh injury concerns to deal with, but they are set to be without midfielder Orel Mangala and attacker Ernest Nuamah.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Descamps; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Niakhate, Abner; Tessmann, Morton; Sulc, Tolisso, Fofana; Mikautadze

Marseille team news: Rabiot still not playing

De Zerbi has said that Adrien Rabiot could come back into the fold, but he remains internally disciplined by the club, with new signing Igor Paixao still sidelined for the visitors through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Rulli; Michael Amir Murillo, Egan-Riley, Balerdi, Ulisses Garcia; Gomes, Hojbjerg; Greenwood, Gouiri, Weah; Aubameyang

Unavailable: Rabiot (Disciplinary), Igor Paixao (Injured)

Questionable: Medina (Injured), Kondogbia (Injured), Harit (Injured)

Lyon vs Marseille prediction

We have what should and could be an absolute thriller in the city of Lyon this week. Lyon have played a much more controlled style this season, with the off-field chaos also calming down with John Textor taking a backseat. However, if any team can drag them into a gung-ho end-to-end clash then it is Marseille, and this one should end up being one of the more high quality matches that Ligue 1 has to offer this season.

Lyon vs Marseille tip: Both teams to score
