Lorient preview: Steady start

As a part of the Bill Foley-led ownership model alongside AFC Bournemouth and Auckland, Lorient are impressively run off the pitch and they have started their season by collecting four points from two matches as they chase a top three finish.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Auxerre on the opening day of the season, before they then hammered Stade Rennais by four goals to nil at Stade du Moustoir in their most recent outing last weekend.

Lille preview: Strong Lille

Lille, still coached by former Olympique Lyonnais boss Bruno Genesio, have had to deal with the departures of Angel Gomes and Olivier Giroud this summer, but the northerners remain a strong team and they have started well this season.

On the opening day, Lille took the lead on three separate occasions before being pegged back to a 3-3 draw by Stade Brest. They then, though, managed to edge past Monaco last weekend, with Olivier Giroud scoring a second-half stoppage-time winner.

Lorient team news: A few doubts

Lorient have a few key doubts for this one with new defensive signing Abdoulaye Faye potentially sidelined alongside midfield duo Noah Cadiou and Bandiougou Fadiga.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Kamara; Mendy, Talbi, Igor Silva; Mvuka, Avom, Abergel, Kouassi; Aiyegun, Bamba, Pagis

Unavailable: Toure (Injured)

Questionable: Faye (Injured), Cadiou (Injured), Fadiga (Injured)

Lille team news: Several issues

Lille have several issues as they head across to Lorient this weekend, with Tiago Santos a major injury doubt alongside both Ngal’ayel Mukau and Osame Sahraoui for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ozer; Meunier, Ngoy, Alexsandro, Perraud; Bouaddi, Andre; Fernandez-Pardo, Haraldsson, Correia; Giroud

Unavailable: Toure (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)

Questionable: Santos (Injured), Mukau (Injured), Sahraoui (Injured)

Lorient vs Lille prediction

Lorient gained promotion with an all-round, pragmatic and balanced style of football. However, that does mean that when they sense an opening then they will attack with vigour, which was the case last weekend as they dispatched of nine-man Rennes. Lille are a strong side but, as they did on the road against Brest, they have shown some defensive fallibilities. As a result, both teams scoring would therefore appear a good bet for this one.

Lorient vs Lille tip: Both teams to score
