Liverpool preview: Getting over the line
It has been a bizarre start to the season for Liverpool, with the Reds having begun with five successive victories across all competitions – but all five matches have required Liverpool scoring a late winner, with three of them seeing them give up a 2-0 lead.
One of those came in midweek as they went into a 2-0 lead against Atletico Madrid, before being pegged back by Los Rojiblancos in the UEFA Champions League. Virgil van Dijk popped up with a second-half stoppage-time header to win the clash, though.
Everton preview: Entertaining Ev
David Moyes and his Everton side come into this one on the back of a goalless draw against Aston Villa at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to extend their unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions since the opening day of the season.
After a busy summer transfer window as they prepared to move into their new home, the Toffees have built an impressive and exciting squad, with Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish appearing to be approaching his best form once again.
Liverpool team news: Jones back
Having started against Atletico Madrid for his debut, Arne Slot has refused to confirm whether or not Alexander Isak would start the derby, although he did say the Sweden international wouldn't be able to play 90 minutes.
The one scouser in the Liverpool squad, Curtis Jones, has been confirmed as being 'back in the fray', albeit it seems unlikely the England international will start the clash.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike

Everton team news: Injury issues
David Moyes has refused to say whether or not either England international Jarrad Branthwaite or Ukraine international Vitaly Mykolenko will be available for this weekend.
The Scotsman also suggested there were a 'couple of other knocks' but they remain undisclosed. Branthwaite seems unlikely to be fit yet, with October previously given as a return date.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O'Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Garner; Iroegbunam, Gueye; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Beto
Unavailable:
Questionable: Branthwaite (Injured), Mykolenko (Injured)
Liverpool vs Everton prediction
Liverpool were underwhelming in a 1-0 victory over newly-promoted Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend, and there is a view that there are concerns over the fluency in their attack and their defensive solidity – and yet they keep on winning as they work things out. Everton, though, will surely fancy their chances of getting at the Reds here, especially with their newfound quality in the final third. Liverpool have to remain favourites with home advantage but, unlike a lot of Merseyside Derbies, it should be quite a fun watch for the neutral.
