Huge questions are being asked of Liverpool right now, and it doesn't get any easier for them here as they host an in-form Aston Villa side at Anfield.

Liverpool preview: Crisis time?

Liverpool's worrying run of form is showing no signs of letting up with the reigning Premier League champions having now lost six of their last seven games in all competitions, and their last four in the Premier League alone.

Their most recent league defeat was 3-2 to Brentford last weekend, while they crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday with a 0-3 defeat at Anfield to fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa preview: Belief restored

Aston Villa are really motoring now having won their last four Premier League games, while they are also unbeaten in six in the league after a difficult start to the season that saw them fail to score in their first four outings in the division.

Unai Emery's men have beaten both Tottenham and Man City in their last two league fixtures, with Matty Cash scoring the only goal of the game against Pep Guardiola's side last Sunday.

Liverpool team news: Positive news on Gravenberch

Ryan Gravenberch looks likely to return to the side after being involved in training this week but Arne Slot stated that Curtis Jones and Alexander Isak will almost certainly miss out.

Dominik Szoboszlai has been one of the few bright sparks this season and Slot may consider fielding the Hungarian at right-back - as he did earlier in the season to good effect.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike

Unavailable: Alisson (Injured), Nallo (Suspended), Leoni (Injured), Frimpong (Injured), Bajcetic (Injured), Danns (Injured)

Questionable: Gravenberch (Fitness), Jones (Injured), Isak Injured)

Aston Villa team news: Buendia injured, Elliott ineligible

Harvey Elliott is ineligible to face parent club Liverpool, while Emile Buendia's absence means that Jadon Sancho could be handed a start, although Emery does have other options in the attacking areas.

Youri Tielemans will miss out once again, but the Belgian midfielder is close to a return to the squad.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Onana; McGinn, Rogers, Sancho; Watkins

Unavailable: Garcia (Injured), Tielemans (Injured), Elliott (Ineligible), Buendia (Injured)

Questionable:

Liverpool vs Aston Villa prediction

Things are clearly not right at Liverpool and questions are starting to be asked of Arne Slot, despite seemingly breezing to the Premier League title in his first season in charge of the club.

This looks a bad time for them to be taking on Aston Villa too, with the Midlands side currently enjoying a fine run of form, and the visitors will be feeling particularly confident after recent victories over Tottenham and Man City in the Premier League.

Villa will look to keep things tight at the back, and given the current trajectory of both teams, you could easily see them leaving Anfield with a positive result.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa tip: Aston Villa draw no bet
