Lens preview: Win and a loss for Lens

Over the summer, following the departure of Will Still to Southampton, Lens have started their campaign with a victory and a defeat, following the appointment of Pierre Sage, who was harshly sacked by Olympique Lyonnais in mid-January.

On the opening day, they suffered a 1-0 loss to what does appear to be a strong Lyon side, but Lens recovered from that by defeating Le Havre by two goals to one at Stade Oceane last weekend, in a result that flattered Le Havre by the coast.

Brest preview: Slow start for Brest

Former Sunderland player Eric Roy has led Stade Brest to significant overperformance in recent seasons and the visitors will look to do so once again, with an entertaining style of football, but they are drifting just above the bottom three and the danger zone.

On the opening day of the campaign, Brest began with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Lille in a game in which they had trailed on three separate occasions. That was then backed up Frank Magri scoring in a brace in a 2-0 defeat to Toulouse last weekend.

Lens team news: Couple of doubts

Lens have no fresh injury concerns for this one, but they do still have a couple of doubts, such as defender Jhoanner Chavez and attacker Martin Satriano.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Risser; Gradit, Sarr, Udol; Aguilar, Thomasson, Sylla, Deiver Machado; Thauvin, Said; Fofana

Unavailable:

Questionable: Jhoanner Chavez (Injured), Martin Satriano (Injured)

Brest team news: Fully fit

As they travel to the north of France this weekend, Brest will have a fully fit and available squad for this one, so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven if they so choose.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Lala, Chardonnet, Le Cardinal, Locko; Lees-Melou, Magnetti; Del Castillo, Doumbia, Balde; Ajorque

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Lens vs Brest prediction

Lens have started their season steadily, and their defeat to Lyon on the opening day could well take on a different look in a couple of months because Lyon do appear to be a very strong side. Brest head to Stade Bollaert-Delelis this weekend with very little confidence to build on, with their three comebacks against Lille perhaps papering over a few cracks. Siding with Lens, therefore, especially with their home advantage, would appear the way to go for this one.

Lens vs Brest tip: Lens to win
