Laura Siegemund booked a place in the round-of-16 at Queen’s Club as she beat home favourite Francesca Jones in straight sets. It was a very straight-forward victory for the German, as she did not face a break point on her way to winning 6-2 6-3. Siegemund progressed to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last year.
She faces Amanda Anisimova, who is the second seed at this event. Anisimova reached the final of this event last year, losing to Tatjana Maria. She also advanced to the final of Wimbledon just a few weeks later. The American made her return from injury at Roland Garros, losing in the third-round to Diane Parry.
Anisimova was one of the standout players of the grass court season in 2025, and she will be viewed as one of the favourites for this title. Siegemund can frustrate with her varied approach, but the two-time Grand Slam finalist is a firm favourite.
