Juventus preview: The Old Lady need a refresh

Over the summer, Juventus reached the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup and the pressure will immediately be on coach Igor Tudor, who took charge on an apparent interim basis late on last season, taking the Bianconeri into the top four.

UEFA Champions League qualification salvaged yet another disappointing campaign, but the pressure is on. The Old Lady have ben able to bring in a couple of new players this summer, with Jonathan David and Joao Mario arriving from Lille and Porto.

Parma preview: New era for Parma

Having steered Parma away from the bottom three and the relegation places towards the end of last season, Cristian Chivu decided to depart the Emilio-Romagna outfit for Internazionale, and he has been replaced by former Arsenal assistant Carlos Cuesta.

Majorca-born Carlos Cuesta has been the assistant coach at Arsenal between 2020 and 2025, but is taking on his first permanent role as coach. Parma have looked across Europe for new signings with the arrivals of Oliver Sorensen and Matija Frigan.

Juventus team news: A few issues

Long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik remains sidelined for Juventus, and the hosts have a couple of other injury issues, such as midfield duo Nicolo Savona and Fabio Miretti.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly; Joao Mario, Thuram, McKennie, Cambiaso; Koopmeiners; Yildiz, Vlahovic

Unavailable: Juan Cabal (Injured), Miretti (Injured), Milik (Injured)

Questionable: Perin (Injured), Savona (Injured)

Parma team news: Balogh suspended

Parma head to Turin without defender Botond Balogh due to suspension, and they have a few injury absentees such as their aforementioned new signing Matija Frigan.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Suzuki; Del Prato, Circati, Valenti; Lovik, Adrian Bernabe, Keita, Valeri; Almqvist, Ordonez; Mateo Pellegrino

Unavailable: Balogh (Suspended), Frigan (Injured), Ondrejka (Injured), Charpentier (Injured)

Questionable: Hernani (Injured)

Juventus vs Parma prediction

Juventus head into this one with a squad that is beginning to make a bit more sense. One thing that Igor Tudor did do well towards the end of last season was to simplifying what Thiago Motta had attempted to overcomplicate last year. They come up against a Parma side that did defeat Pescara by two goals to one in the first round of the Coppa Italia last week, but Carlos Cuesta is likely to endure some managerial teething issues, and Juve will be confident of controlling this one at the J Stadium.
