Jessica Pegula vs Emma Navarro prediction

Jessica Pegula reached the quarter-finals of the US Open for the third year running after beating Sorana Cirstea in straight sets. The world number three raced through the opening 13 points to establish a 3-0 lead and, although Cirstea would go on to make both sets competitive, Pegula went on to win 6-3 6-4.

She now faces Emma Navarro for a place in the last four. Navarro produced a strong display, defeating Anna Kalinskaya 6-4 6-2 after one hour and 21 minutes. The opening set remained on serve until Navarro crucially broke in the 10th game to take the lead. She raced clear in the second and finished with just 10 unforced errors compared with Kalinskaya’s 32. Navarro had previously beaten two-time Grand Slam finalist Karolina Muchova in round three.

Pegula dominates the head-to-head as she leads 4-0, having beaten Navarro just last month at the Cincinnati Open. She also defeated the 25-year-old in the semi-finals of this event two years ago, and will be the favourite once again, although Navarro should have enough quality to keep this competitive.
