Janice Tjen has enjoyed a strong 2026 thus far. The 26-year-old has not been brilliant on a hard court, though, with second round exits in Washington and Cincinnati either side of a first round loss to Liudmila Samsonova in Toronto.

26-year-old Dayana Yastremska is ranked 112 in the world and a real outsider for this one, with injury also hurting her progress into the late-summer, only playing once since Wimbledon and that being a straight sets loss to Tatjana Maria in the first round at the Cincinnati Open.

Yastremska enjoyed a relatively strong spring but she remains the major underdog here and Tjen should come out on top and head into the third round in Mexico.
