Jan Choinski arrives in Estoril having just won his second Challenger title of the year on clay in Braunschweig.
The British world number 75 will face Jesper de Jong for the first time with the Dutchman just two places better off in the rankings.
Jesper has also won a Challenger title on the dirt in Cattolica this year but is still waiting to ignite this year after a breakthrough 2025.
The step up to main draw level is always tough and Jan only has three wins in main draws this year. The Brit will be seen by many as the underdog here and perhaps quite rightly given de Jong’s ceiling is higher.
The Dutchman can be hit and miss which makes this a tougher call than it should be, but if pushed we’d still side with him to prevail.
