Ipswich Town have never had a good run of it in cup competitions under Kieran McKenna and they may face an awkward test against Ian Evatt’s Blackpool at Portman Road.

Ipswich vs Blackpool prediction

Ipswich Town are firmly in contention for automatic promotion in the Championship and the Tractor Boys come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Oxford United on New Year’s Day, which means they have suffered just one loss in their last eight matches as they chase the likes of Coventry City and Middlesbrough.

Blackpool have been improved since the appointment of former Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt, albeit with the ability to throw in a genuinely woeful performance. The Seasiders have begun 2026 quite badly, though, with a 5-1 hammering at the hands of a poor Port Vale side before a 2-1 defeat at home to Bradford City.

With their home advantage, Ipswich will be expected to come out on top but they won’t prioritise the clash and Blackpool need to show a reaction to their recent defeats.

Ipswich vs Blackpool tip: Ipswich to win & both teams to score
