Iceland team news: Attacking style

Iceland head into their opening game against Finland with no injury concerns and they have not been forced into any late changes to their squad either. They will be expected to name an entertaining and attacking 4-3-3 system against Finland.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Runarsdottir; Arnadottir, Viggosdottir, Sigurdardottir, Arnardottir; Johannsdottir, Vilhjalmsdottir, Antonsdottir; Eiriksdottir, Jessen, Jonsdottir

Finland team news: Also fully fit

Much like their upcoming opponents for this one, Finland also have a fully fit and available squad for this one in their opener. As ever with a Scandinavian side, it is expected to be a flat 4-4-2 for the Finnish.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Korpela; Kosola, Kuikka, Nystrom, Lehtola; Ahtinen, Oling, Summanen, Siren; Sallstrom, Franssi

Iceland vs Finland prediction

Coached by Thorsteinn Haldorsson, the Icelandic national side have quite a bit of pedigree in their squad with players from Internazionale, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and 116-cap West Ham United midfielder Dagny Brynjarsdottir. They collected 13 points from their six qualifying matches last year.

Finland, on the other hand, qualified as one of the seven playoff winners. They are currently ranked 26th in the world, which is six higher than their lowest ranking of 32 in 2019. Their playoff saw them comfortably defeat Montenegro by six goals to nil over two legs with a 5-0 second-leg victory against the Montenegrins in Tampere.

Finland showed their dominance against Montenegro in that game, but Iceland would have to be viewed as slight favourites for this opening game at Arena Thun in Thun.
