Guinea-Bissau have something of an improving squad, but they have underwhelmed in qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the same could be said for Sierra Leone.

Key Stats

  • Guinea-Bissau have won only one of their last ten World Cup qualifying matches (D5 L3).
  • Sierra Leone have lost only two of their previous 13 international matches against Guinea Bissau (W7 D4).
  • Only one of Sierra Leone’s last 18 World Cup qualifying matches finished without a goal being scored.

Guinea-Bissau vs Sierra Leone Prediction

In Group A of African qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Egypt have run away with it on 16 points from six matches, with Burkina Faso sitting five points behind. Then, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Guinea-Bissau are simply playing to be the best of the rest, some way ahead of a poor Djibouti side at the bottom of the group.

Under the management of Luis Boa Morte, Guinea-Bissau most recently suffered back-to-back losses in qualification for the FIFA World Cup. That included a 3-1 loss to Sierra Leone during the March international, with Sierra Leone sitting a couple of points ahead of Guinea-Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau have the home advantage of playing at Estadio 24 de Setembro, and it should be quite a fun watch for the neutral as they seek to get on the front foot here.

Guinea-Bissau vs Sierra Leone Tip: Both teams to score
