Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Not televised / US – FOX Sports

How to watch online: UK – Cannot be streamed / US – Disney+

Key stats

  • Georgia have won their last two World Cup qualifying matches (their final two games in the 2022 qualifiers).
  • Georgia are aiming to win three successive World Cup qualifying matches for only the second time (they previously did when they won their last two matches in the 1998 edition and their opening match in the 2002 qualifiers).
  • Türkiye have lost only two of their last 12 World Cup qualifying matches (W6 D4). One of the defeats was in their most recent fixture against Portugal in the play-offs for the 2022 finals (L 1-3 a).
  • Türkiye have won four of the previous six international matches between these teams (D1 L1). This includes a 5-2 victory in Georgia in a World Cup qualifying match in March 2005. Their only other encounter in World Cup qualifying was a 1-1 draw in Trabzon in September 2004.

Georgia vs Turkey prediction

Coached by Willy Sagnol, the Georgians have some real stars that have continued to develop, such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Georges Mikautadze and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Georgia will be expected to continue to be on the front foot, as they were in a 9-1 aggregate defeat of Armenia in the UEFA Nations League playoffs back in March.

They face a Turkey side that, under the management of former Italy international striker Vincenzo Montella, somehow missed out on automatic promotion to League A in the UEFA Nations League in March, but an impressive Turkish side then dispatched of Hungary by six goals to one on aggregate to gain promotion via the playoffs.

These are two countries that have been trending in a positive direction in terms of football, and they both play quite an entertaining style so this should be fun for the neutral.

Georgia vs Turkey tip: Over 2.5 goals
