Reigning champion Gabriel Diallo faces a very tricky opener against Adrian Mannarino at the Libema Open.
The Canadian proved he has the powerhouse game for grass with a title here last year, but this is the Frenchman’s favoured surface and he will be eager to try to pull off the upset and end nine-match losing run stretching across the whole of the clay season.
World number 54 Diallo has not fared much better with one win in his last seven outings and he is also ranked eight places below the French veteran.
There’s very much scope for the upset given Mannarino’s calibre on grass and Diallo is going to have to land that massive serve at a high percentage to keep the 37-year-old at bay.
