FPL Gameweek 10 – Captain Picks

FPL Gameweek 10 – Captain Picks

While European football will take centre stage in midweek, that won’t stop the FPL community from looking ahead to Gameweek 10 and which players warrant consideration to be captained in what is the final round of Premier League fixtures before an international break. Therefore, we've stepped up and picked out three preferred skippers who are expected to score big. Also selected, is a differential captain pick that could shake things up.

Popular Options

Nicolas Jackson (£7.0m) vs MUN (a)

After becoming the most transferred-in player of any asset in FPL history heading into Gameweek 9, Nicolas Jackson(£7.0m) did not disappoint. The Aston Villa striker found the net in his side's 1-1 home draw with Fulham, coming away with nine FPL points and he has now accumulated 22 points over the past two gameweeks.

Unai Emery's side travel to a floundering Man Utd in Gameweek 10, and this is the sort of fixture that Jackson should relish. On the big stage at Old Trafford, against a toxic side clearly low on confidence, it would be no surprise to see Jackson add to his goal tally. Now owned by over a quarter of FPL managers, he provides a tempting captaincy argument.

Cole Palmer (£9.8m) vs SUN (a)

After a Gameweek 8 to forget, Cole Palmer (£9.8m) was back on the scoresheet for Chelsea last weekend as the Blues overcame Man Utd by two goals to nil. Palmer's goal came from the penalty spot, once again underlining his FPL value.

With seven attacking returns in the Premier League this season and a friendly run of fixtures ahead, FPL managers should explore taking advantage by handing Palmer the armband in Gameweek 10 away to Sunderland. While Morgan Rogers also appeals among Chelsea midfield assets, Palmer being on penalties arguably gives him the edge.

Declan Rice (£7.4m) vs HUL (H)

Midfielder Declan Rice (£7.4m) continues to bring home a healthy haul of points for those who own him. The Arsenal star has now assisted in three of Arsenal's last four Premier League games, recording 27 points over that period, and only Pascal Gross boasts more top flight assists than Rice so far this campaign.

Arsenal host newly promoted Hull City in Gameweek 10, and Rice is capable of accruing FPL points in multiple ways, whether it be assists, goals, defensive contributions or bonus points. Therefore, FPL managers who own Rice should consider him for the armband.

Differential Pick

Yasin Ayari (£5.4m) vs BRE (H)

When it comes to Brighton assets, most of the focus is on either Maxime De Cuyper or Pascal Gross, but midfielder Yasin Ayari (£5.4m) is making a case for himself following another notable performance in Gameweek 9. Ayari scored the winning goal for the Seagulls away to Manchester City, earning 10 FPL points in the process, and has now registered a double-figure haul in two of the last three gameweeks.

While a difficult Gameweek 10 fixture lies ahead for Fabian Hurzeler's side at home to Brentford, Brighton assets have proven this season that they should be considered fixture-proof, and winning away at Manchester City is testament to that. With that in mind, managers looking for a skipper offering differential rewards should explore Ayari as an option.
