Monza are enjoying a truly excellent campaign and secured yet another win last time out. On the back of stunning this year’s Serie A winners Napoli, they backed that effort up with another success as they overcame Sassuolo.

Despite falling behind to a Domenico Berardi penalty on the stroke of half-time, they were able to level through Patrick Ciurria before their task was aided by Sassuolo going down to 10 men. Ruan was given his marching orders and as they continued to push for a winner, they were eventually rewarded in stoppage time as Matteo Pessina found the back of the net.

That win made it eight games without a loss for Monza while they have lost just two of their last 12 league games on home soil. After such a stirring campaign, they will be eager to end the season in front of their home fans on a high.

Lecce remain in trouble at the wrong end of the table after playing out a goalless draw with fellow relegation-threatened side Spezia. In what was a fairly scrappy affair, neither side were able to break the deadlock and had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Lecce now start this round of matches with a three-point cushion over 18th-placed Verona but could well find themselves in great danger if they do not come away from this trip with a positive result.

They have failed to win any of their last four matches but their away form will cause them greater concern. They have failed to win any of their last six on their travels and have lost out in five of those contests.

These two teams are trending in opposite directions and it could be evident come the full-time whistle. Monza have lost just one of their last six while it is one solitary win in 13 matches for Lecce. Their form on the road is also of grave concern and with Monza proving tough to beat on home soil, the hosts should be able to claim another three points and make it three straight victories.
