THE PREDICTION

Bayern Munich have endured a really difficult campaign as they try and chase any piece of silverware. The Bavarians lost the DFL-Supercup to RB Leipzig and they are ten points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga after also being knocked out by third-tier Saarbrucken in the DFB-Pokal. They do, though, now come into this one on the back of turning around a deficit in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Lazio, winning the second-leg by three goals to nil thanks to a goal from Thomas Muller sandwiched between Harry Kane strikes. They now face a Mainz side that have proved to be stubborn against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach in recent weeks but the visitors, albeit they have won just one of their last 14 Bundesliga matches. However, they have lost just one game by more than solitary goal in the league since Bayern won 3-1 in Mainz in mid-October. A home win is to be expected but it could well be a low-scoring and hard-fought victory.

TIP: BAYERN MUNICH TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
