Flavio Cobolli vs Alexander Zverev prediction
Flavio Cobolli advanced to his first ever Grand Slam final after his semi-final opponent Matteo Arnaldi withdrew from the tournament due to a virus. Cobolli had beaten Felix Auger-Aliassime in his quarter-final match, coming from a set down to win.
He will face Alexander Zverev. The world number three reached his fourth major final and his second at Roland Garros after beating Jakub Mensik in four sets. Zverev crucially saved break points in the first set and then went on to break Mensik in the 11th game as he took the lead. He comfortably closed out the second, but the Czech threatened a comeback as he took the third. However, Zverev regrouped well to win 7-5 6-2 3-6 6-3.
Zverev leads the head-to-head 3-1 and 2-1 on clay. They faced each other in the third-round of this event last year, with the German winning in straight sets. In terms of 2026 meetings, Cobolli won their first encounter in Munich, though Zverev would go on to win in Madrid a few weeks later.
Cobolli will be well rested for this one, and he will look to extend the rallies to his advantage. However, it’s difficult to shake the feeling that the stars may finally be aligning for Zverev, as he seeks an elusive maiden Grand Slam title.
