Federico Cina will make his second appearance on the ATP Tour this season after advancing through the qualifying stages in Umag. He lost in the first-round of the Grand Prix Hassan II earlier this year, though he did pick up his first ever win at a Grand Slam after a victory in the first-round of Roland Garros. Cina is only 19, but he did win a Challenger tournament in Pune right at the beginning of March.
He will face Quentin Halys. The Frenchman won his first-round match at Wimbledon after defeating Roland Garros semi-finalist Matteo Arnaldi in four sets, but then fell to a straight sets loss against Marcos Giron. His best result on the ATP this season was a quarter-final appearance at the Eastbourne Open just last month.
Halys has performed well at this event in the past, having reached the final two years ago. Cina will look to extend the rallies and force errors from his opponent, but Halys remains the favourite to advance.
