Everton vs Sunderland prediction

David Moyes isn’t under pressure but it has been a poor run of form for Everton ahead of this one. The Toffees’ frustrating 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek means that they have now managed one win in their last six matches with a threadbare squad due to injuries, suspensions and players away on international duty.

Sunderland head to Liverpool on the back of a 3-0 loss to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in midweek. The Black Cats have fought and performed well with so many absentees due to the CAF Africa Cup of Nations but that sort of result and performance did feel as though things were naturally catching up with them.

Sunderland are focusing on ensuring they can finish as high as possible in the Premier League, while Everton could do without another fixture at the moment so a game in which neither have much interest, and that showing, seems likely.

Everton vs Sunderland tip: Under 2.5 goals
