Ethiopia vs Egypt Prediction

As mentioned, Group A is not the toughest group in CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Ethiopia are one of two winless sides in the section, alongside Djibouti, whilst Egypt have collected ten points from their opening four matches.

Ethiopia come into this one on the back of a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Sudan in the second round of African Nations Championship qualification in December. They also suffered three defeats from four matches in qualification for the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations during the autumn.

They now face an Egyptian side that, coached by Hossam Hassan, have been much-improved of late with Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush now supporting Mohamed Salah in attack, albeit the latter is missing from this week’s international break. They have been very strong in the last 12 months or so since the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in 2024.

Ethiopia lack quality and are a generally limited side, whilst the Egyptians will be expected to win this one quite comfortably as they try and earn a fourth FIFA World Cup qualification.
