Espanyol preview: Strong start

Over the summer, Espanyol have been the subject of a takeover by Burnley owner Alan Pace, which has given supporters a bit of optimism about propelling themselves up the table, and it has been a strong start to the campaign for Espanyol.

They do, though, come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss to 100%-ers Real Madrid at the Bernabeu the other day, courtesy of goals in either half from defender Eder Militao and France captain Kylian Mbappe.

Valencia preview: Much-needed win

Valencia come into this one on the back of a much-needed 2-0 defeat of Athletic Club at Mestalla at the weekend. Dani Vivian was sent off early in the second-half before goals scored by Baptiste Santamaria and Hugo Duro for the Valencians.

The reason that was much-needed was because of a 6-0 demolition at the hands of Barcelona at Estadi Johan Cruyff upon their return from September international break. They return to Catalonia looking to continue a much-needed improvement.

Espanyol team news: Pere Milla still suspended

Pere Milla missed the weekend’s loss to Madrid and the midfielder remains absent through suspension for the hosts, serving the second of a three-match ban.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Dmitrovic; El Hilali, Fernando Calero, Leandro Cabrera, Carlos Romero; Dolan, Urko Gonzalez de Zarate, Pol Lozano, Javi Puado; Roberto Fernandez, Edu Exposito

Unavailable: Pere Milla (Suspended)

Valencia team news: Nothing to bother Carlos Corberan

As they make the trip to Barcelona this week, Valencia have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues and so Los Che will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Julen Agirrezabala; Foulquier, Carlos Tarrega, Diakhaby, Jose Luis Gaya; Luis Rioja, Barrenechea, Javi Guerra, Diego Lopez; Dani Raba, Danjuma

Espanyol vs Valencia prediction

Espanyol have tried to play a bit more on the front foot this season, despite former B team coach Manolo Gonzalez remaining at the helm in Barcelona. They now face a Valencia side that head to Catalonia looking to continue their intense style of football under Carlos Corberan, with an emphasis on playing pressing football with immense energy. This should reasonably intriguing to watch for the neutral.
