England team news: The tactical switch

Lauren James came into the tournament as an injury doubt but played against France in a central role. She was moved wide against the Netherlands and thrived there, with Ella Toone also playing well in something of a number ten role.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Carter, Greenwood; Walsh, Stanway; James, Toone, Hemp; Russo

Wales team news: Holland likely to play

Ceri Holland picked up an injury in Wales’ opener but played in their last outing so should be available, but she remains a doubt once again for this one. Aside from that, though, there are no other issues for the Welsh to deal with this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Middleton-Patel; E. Morgan, Green, Evans, Woodham; Barton, Rowe, James-Turner, Holland; F. Morgan, Fishlock

Questionable: Holland (Injured)

England vs Wales prediction

England came into the tournament under something of a cloud and they were outplayed by France in their opener as they suffered a 2-1 loss. However, after talking the talk before the game, the Lionesses did walk the walk against the Netherlands as they hammered the Dutch by four goals to nil the other day.

Wales are playing in their first ever international tournament, and had the misfortune of being drawn into the so-called ‘group of death’ alongside three genuine contenders for the title. They began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to the Dutch before a 3-1 loss to France, albeit they got themselves a goal via legendary figure Jess Fishlock.

England will have to keep the foot down because even if they win then there is a chance of going out on goal difference, so a heavy English victory is to be expected for this one.
