Eintracht Frankfurt Preview: Back to winning ways

After a worrying run of three consecutive defeats, Eintracht Frankfurt got back to winning ways just when they needed to, getting the better of Bochum by three goals to one just before the last international break of the season. That win on the road keeps them in the top four with a three-point cushion currently.

Whilst they will have to balance their Bundesliga commitments with the Europa League, they don’t have to worry about that for another week at least, but Dino Toppmoller will need to manage his side well from a physical perspective.

Stuttgart Preview: Sliding out of the equation

Stuttgart’s disastrous extended run of results have seen them fallen all the way down to tenth-place in the Bundesliga heading into the international break. You have to go back to February 8th for the last time that Stuttgart won a game of football. Since then, they’ve drawn two and lost three, conceding 12 goals in the process.

Most recently, Stuttgart gave Bayer Leverkusen a hard fight but came up short in the end, losing by four goals to three at home. That result summed up Stuttgart’s troubles from a defensive perspective.

Eintracht Frankfurt Team News: Hosts wait on Trapp

Santos is set to start in goal should Kevin Trapp not recover from injury in time to take his place between the sticks. Midfielder Skhiri also faces a late fitness test, whilst Chandler, Matanovic and Wahi are all out.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Santos; Kristensen, Koch, Theate, Brown; Tuta, Dahoud; Knauff, Gotze, Bahoya; Ekitike

Stuttgart Team News: Stergiou banned

Stergiou’s suspension means that he is one of five players set to miss out here for Stuttgart. Chase, Nartey, Raimund and Zagadou are each absent through injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Nubel; Jeltsch, Al-Dakhil, Hendriks; Leweling, Karazor, Stiller, Mittelstadt; Millot, Undav, Woltemade

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart Prediction

The international break came at a good time for Stuttgart, giving themselves a chance to reset after their terrible recent run of form. But they’ve been handed a really tough examination right off the bat with Eintracht Frankfurt hunting for the Champions League and enjoying what has been an excellent season from their perspective.

Home advantage being in Eintracht’s favour is important and if they score the first goal, it would be no surprise to see Stuttgart heads drop. When taking into the visitors’ struggles over a sustained period now, backing and Eintracht victory has to be favoured in this one.
